To Flash or Not to Flash - That is the question!

My company has been in business for 10 years and I’ve been designing websites for a lot longer than that. I have seen the technology progress in an amazing way.  We went from text heavy sites with big “buttons” for links to text links that are graphic heavy.  It’s been a very cool thing to be a part of and I think the evolution of Flash has been an incredibly important part of the process. 

That being said, I think there is a time and a place for Flash and that most small businesses have no need for the technology.  We are coming off an economy where a small business could easily drop six to ten thousand dollars to build a high tech website. My question is……why?

Have we forgotten about functionality? I mean I get the fashion versus function argument and my husband will attest to that based on my choice of footwear but when we are talking business, function should always win that argument.  I think that businesses everywhere need to focus more on the functionality of their website and less on the the flash.  Of course the site needs to be professional and aesthetically pleasing but we don’t need music and video unless you are a production company of some sort. I want to get to your site find the information I need and then get on with my day.  This is the kind of website Corporate Identity Solutions, LLC will build.  However, we can also do the Flash…..if you insist.
