10 Years in the Business Total Advertising Cost - $200
I’ve always said that I love Milwaukee, everyone knows everyone. It’s a small town with big city extras. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve walked into a business meeting with someone I’ve never met just to find out that they went to high school with or lived next door to a client/colleague of mine. It is interesting how there is an immediate trust associated with that. You can’t buy that kind of marketing anywhere for any price.
My business has very much thrived on that for 10 years. We haven’t really ever paid for advertising. Sure we bought an ad in the local business journal to support a cause we believed in and we’ve twice paid $100 to my tennis club to advertise in their directory. We’ve done things here and there but we’ve never had any huge advertising costs. Why? WoM! What? Word of Mouth Marketing. Yep, we put out a good product, make our clients happy and then they give our name to two or three people. Pretty simple.
Ok great, but now let’s take this to the next level. Let’s take this global. (Perhaps the next level is more statewide or national than global but I like to think big picture.) Let’s get online and ask our friends and family to support what we are doing. Let’s use Facebook, Twitter, and other blog sites to take our WoM marketing to the next step. And while we are at it, let’s help other small business do that same thing after all, the best way to get help is to one, ask for it and two, give it.
It’s a big world out there I am more than willing to share, after all I don’t need a huge piece of the pie. So take at look at our work www.identify-yourself.com if you like it please pass it on and if you’d like me to do the same send me a link!
